Conclusions

Appeal was made under section 78 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 against a refusal to grant planning permission.

The appeal was made by Churchill Retirement Living against the decision of Reigate & Banstead Borough Council.

The application Ref P/06/02502/F, dated 15 December 2006, was refused by notice dated 27 March 2007.

The development proposed was a redevelopment to form 49 sheltered apartments with ancillary accommodation, communal facilities, car parking, access and landscaping.

Summary of Decision
The appeal is dismissed.

The village community of Tadworth is celebrating, having learned that Churchill Retirement Living have decided not to go ahead with their proposals to build a large block of 50 flats in the centre of our village.

Local residents will now be able to focus on positive community issues and in particular make plans to commemorate 100 years of Tadworth as a village.

The Save Tadworth Action Group (STAG) has fought a hard campaign for the past 15 months to prevent this redevelopment, working with the local resident’s association, and with virtually unanimous support from local residents.  STAG will continue to be vigilant and is committed to fighting any development that may harm the amenities and character of Tadworth Village.

Once more we would again like to thank all our supporters and contributors, without you we could not have done it all.
