BACKGROUND TO THE CASE AGAINST
click for the Planning Application
The high density
development would dominate and destroy the character of Tadworth village. Churchill Retirement Living will be held responsible for “putting the first nail
in the coffin”.
The prolonged
construction period and consequent parking problems caused by your development
would threaten the economic viability of our shops.
Bringing more elderly
people into Tadworth village would change the balance of the community – we
urgently need more small houses for young families.
1-9 Cross Road, Tadworth
Churchill are offering future residents of their development:
A noisy congested site
with unproven and inadequate transport links.
No parking in the
vicinity for visitors such as relative or health carers.
Possible future problems
with water shortages, following the 2006 drought order, leading to the use of standpipes
Problems with local
health care with overstretched GPs and cuts in local hospitals which could lead
to a seriously ill resident being transferred to Brighton as the nearest
critical care hospital.
Churchill Retirement Living
failed to be persuaded by our arguments and request to cut their losses and
withdraw their application.
The fight will continue with the overwhelming
support of the residents of Tadworth Village.
