DEVELOPERS REFUSE TO WITHDRAW PLANS

BUT THE BATTLE IS NOT OVER!!
Although the first application was unanimously refused we expect Churchill Retirement Living to submit an amended plan in the very near future and maybe appeal against the first refusal. Our new posters show just what would happen if this development goes ahead.

In St Monicas Road, Kingswood work has started on a large block of flats which the majority of local residents do not want. Work will start soon on another site just opposite this; a graphic example of the 'domino' effect and the greatest danger that we face in Tadworth, should any flat development in the centre of the village be approved. Should an amended plan be submitted it will be another big battle - harder than the last. We will let you know as soon as we have details.

Another block of flats!!  Planning application (07/00044/F) was lodged in December 2006, to demolish the house at 8, The Avenue and build 24 flats in two blocks. The house is in a very bad condition and will be redeveloped.  However, the question is what is appropriate for this site?  Will yet more flats attract more retired people from outside Tadworth, further upsetting the balance of population? It is evident that in The Avenue there is ‘development creep’. Will the whole road eventually be filled with flats and will it end there?  Do we need more flats or some small houses for our young families?  This site is next to a school (go and have a look!) – what do you think is the right sort of housing to put on this plot?  These are questions we should all be thinking about.  Do you want to influence the future of your village?

Please write to your local councillors and let them know what you think.
